MONDAY 3rd OCTOBER 2011 (Problem...what problem?)

Today is a public holiday in Germany and everything is closed. And I mean...EVERYTHING.

The holiday is to celebrate the unification of East and West Germany, when the Berlin wall came down.

The wall was built in 1961 and fell in 1989 which paved the way for German reunification.

An important day to remember for the Deutsche.

I did the necessary 'home' chores while Paul spent a large part of the day trouble-shooting the problems with the sidecar drive.

The sidecar wheel and components were fine, the rear wheel of the bike and drive seemed okay too.

What the problem was eluded him which was disappointing.

The pinion gear in the sidecar drive looks okay.

We went for a test ride and with me in the sidecar we very soon realised that the sidecar 'grabbing and lurching' was far too violent and turned back before we'd gone too far.

We don't want to cause any more damage to the old girl.

Paul continued to try a few more things but as the day closed we both knew the problem was never going to be fixed any time soon.

On a good note the rebuilt engine is running b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l-l-y.

Despite our very short and unsuccessful ride it was nice to be back on the bike.

Can't help but wonder how it would've been IF our holiday plans had of worked...???
Pretty good I reckon.
