MONDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2011 (Cock & Bull)

It now seems like we've been in the UK for ages. We are having a ball and forgotten all about the woes we left behind.

Nick, Paul & I went for a walk through the back blocks of Silverstone.

It was lovely how the streets and laneways led to various tracks and through the fields to other sections of the village. You think you've walked for miles and you've really only travelled two blocks to come out at the local shop. A great way to get the morning paper.

We passed through these 'kissing gates', a common scene in the area.

And through the fields, you could hardly see the village on the right.

If I had more time I was tempted to pick a big bucket of blackberries and make some jam. I hate seeing them go to waste.

Late morning we all drove to CRANFIELD to visit 'Grove Classic's'. They supply Velocette parts all over the world.

We were expecting a shop and were surprised to discover the business is run from the 'back yard'.

They have a great business going and LOTS of work on the go.

For us it was good to meet Mike and Tania FOTHERBY and to know who it is we are dealing with when ordering parts.

A delightful addition was little Betty and Frank (their dogs).

With the needed parts in hand we bid our farewell. Paul was as happy as a pig in mud.

We then had an interesting diversion to Stony Stratford where the COCK Hotel and BULL Hotel lie almost side by side. Legend has it that this is where the famous cock'n'bull story originated. Punters would go in to one pub, hear or tell a story, then it was taken to the next pub and relayed, probably inaccurately.
What a lot of cock'n'bull...!!!

The BULL Hotel at Stony Stratford.

No-one can go to England without imbibing in the local brew and eating fish-n-chips. That's exactly what we did at the COCK Hotel.

Back home I made a pasta pomodoro for tea while the boys watched the Superbike racing at Imola.

Ahh, life is good.
